The First Christmas (Christmas on the Close #1), by Stephanie Wood

Format: eBook

Review:

Have you ever walked through the neighborhood and wonder what was going on in each and every house? What do they do for a living? Who does the cooking? What do they watch? Well, Stephanie Wood has opened the doors into the homes of every resident on the Close. In this series, we get to take a peek into the lives of this small tightknit community.

The first book in this series focuses on newlyweds Imogen and Richard. They are just moving into the neighborhood, hoping to be all settle by Christmas, and things don’t seem to be going just the way Imogen plans. This is a great short story about how life doesn’t always follow our plans and its how we adapt to those changes that make us human.

I really enjoyed getting to know Imogen and Richard, as well as getting a quick glimpse at a few of the neighbors who made brief appearances. This book reminded me a lot of Maeve Binchy’s book “Chestnut Street” where we met a string of characters tied together by an address. This was a short, quick, and fun read and I look forward to reading the other books in the series so I can get to know all the residents on the Close.
